so, within three days my tranny went from perfect fluid level, according to the dispstick, to not even touching it.

the transmission was just slightly engaging, in that i could move the truck, but not very quickly, less than 5mph at 3000rpm in first, before there was a violent jerk and it engaged, i pulled into the gas station, checked the fluid, wasn't even on the stick, added fluid to the full mark, and the transmission engages perfectly, i can idle the truck at 15mph, shifts completely imperceptibly, it's a perfect transmission.

except that now, at about 75-80 it, for lack of a better word, skips, what it feels like is, it's partially releasing the overdrive and then locking it back up real quick, or maybe even the TC lockup but i have a switch for that and it's not as violent as this when i flip it. edit: it's once in a while done the skipping in first and second, i can't be sure if it ever did it in third.

any ideas as to cause for this, and if i can get away with not getting a new tranny?

if that's not possible, is there any way to put a 4R55E or 5R55E into it?

Mine leaked at the main seal by the torque converter. It never malfunctioned though. Any fluid on the bottom of the truck?

:annoyed:
i have the same problem and its leaking from the front seal :dunno:

yeah there's always a thin coating of ATF on the pan, and there's a little bit of build up on the bolts themselves.

check the vacuum modulator for leakage thru the vacuum hose. mine was leaking and siphoning into the engine oil
