First of all, forgive me if this is a stupid question but I'm an absolute virgin when it comes to automatic transmissions.
I have what I beleive is an A4LD tranny (Came out of 1991 4x4 Explorer) that has been sitting in a tarp shelter for a very humid winter, spring, and summer (was only supposed to be a week or two but change of job turned into change of plans :S).
Anyhow, there's two splined shafts on the bellhousing end, are they both supposed to rotate, or is the outer one supposed to be very rigidly fixed?
Also, is there anything particular I should check or lube up before assembly to make sure things work out properly? The transmission was as full as it could be on level ground during storage, and dipstick was in place.
Thanks in advance.
