My credo
Those who say something cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.
I bought an 89 Ranger this spring, it's a British Columbia truck that's in VG shape. Only here in the east for 3yrs. The previous owner started restoring it so they frame has been sandblast and painted and there was a crap load of new parts on the truck. I put more new parts on it and reassembled it to flip for a profit or maybe keep it for a 5.0 swap. The truck runs and drives great but the tranny is doing something weird.

The tranny has an adjustable vacuum modulator, it upshifts 1-2 at about 30km/h, 2-3 is around 50km/h and 3-4 is about 80km/h. It drives great except for one thing - when you are driving on secondary road at 80km/h and you let off the fuel it instantly down shifts to 3rd...as soon as you hit the fuel it drops right back in to OD. at 100km/h it will do the same thing if you let it coast, once it drops to 90km/h it will downshift to 3rd. Any idea's????

I'm a diehard Ford guy and I really like the little truck, I paid $1000 for it in pieces and now I only have $2300 in it on the road. The last guy put a pile of money into it but lost interest. The entire front end is brand new, all new brake lines and rear brakes, new fenders and rad support, the engine has 2 brand new heads (not reman), new oil pan and lots more new stuff. I have it for sale but not much interest so far so I might get my wish to keep it for a 5.0 swap.:headbang: I have a set of 17" Mustang wheels here for it already.:D
