i saw you had answered a question for someone else like this.
i have a 85 ranger with a4ld.
i have a 89 m van with a a4ld.
the 85 does not have the shift x. solind.
so can i use a 89 trans in the 85 ranger if i change the bellhousing?

how did you get an A4lD in an Astro? those have a 4L60 or a 4L60e

Nope the wiring on a 85 has only 2 wires in the plug and the 89 has 3 wires also the cooler lines are of a different size.

The shift arm (coming out of the tranny) is also different between those two years (column/cable shift VS floor/linkage shift) so the valve body would have to come out anyway.........

does the bellhousing even come off the a4ld?
