The issue is with the truck in my signature. Just had the A4LD rebuilt in it. Transmission guy put a shift kit in it when he did the the rebuild.

Okay, so when I take off the truck seems to rev up high unnecessarily, a little over 3 K. I am not getting on it at all just seems to like to stay in first gear too long before it shifts.

Now when I get on it, the shifting out of first seems normal considering the pressure I am putting down on the throttle.

Is this something to worry about or am I just worrying about nothing?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Not normal. My A4LD has the same storyline, rebuilt with 6K miles, new shift kit, three months later it bites the dust. I would say yours just sounds like it has a really late shift point, have you tried messing with the vacuum modulator? By turning the center of it, I believe clockwise (double check this just in case), it will make more firm shifts sooner.

You guys also have the kickdown calbe that can be adjusted at the firewall too. Pull full throttle and push the button. This should set the kickdown and you can adjust from there.

Reviving a dead thread..

symptoms of a bad vacuum modulator: when you pull the vacuum hose off, usually ATF will be present. Even if there isn't any fluid there, it's worth replacing. I think it's only a $10 part. Just make sure you don't loose the little pin that is inside the old one, you'll need to put it in the new vacuum modulator.
