tell me everything that could possibly cause this issue...

when i drive it (before it warms up, sometimes after its warm) it over runs 1st gear bad... and will stay at 3500-4000 RPMs for a long time, then it'll finally shift, hard. same thing for 2-3 shift... sometimes i can let off the gas a little and it will shift, SOMETIMES. not always

its a fresh rebuild trans (worked fine a couple days) and a freshly rebuilt valve body (disassembled it, cleaned it, replaced a couple valves, put back together)..

decided today to try the new vacuum modulator valve and i don't think its changed anything. i've also cleaned and polished the governor.. i've tried everyting i've found in threads on here.....

only code i have is Air Charge Temp Sensor, thinking about swapping the one off the explorer tomorrow just to try it. just to cover all my basis..

all this crap is making me think if i'm gonna have time to make the b2 4x4 again before Spring Run... this crap is pissing me off. if i had the money i'd go grab a jy trans and gamble on it working just to make it to spring run.

Did you clean out the trans line going to the cooler, before hooking them back up and running the trans ???

you might have had some junk in the line, and it's now in the trans.

I would check the the two mod things in the passenger side, and then recheck the bands on the driver side.

plan on checking the piston deals on the side again tomorrow morning to see if anything looks out of the ordinary...

The piston things that you refer to are the servos and they work off pressure. Definately check those for rips and or tears. See what the caps are made of whether it be aluminum or steel. If they are steel they will be fine if aluminum change them to steel. Now be mindful that they are connected to the bands so you will need to back the bands off before you take the servo out. But a long lingering shift can be the servo.
