hello im new to this forum stuff but i just bought a 1990 2.9L V6 and when ever i have it in overdrive and press the pedel all the way down the tranni disengages and redlines. any thoughts?

What do you mean disengages? Truck still moves, right?

By the way you are describing it, I think you are just describing what the trans is made to do. If you were going up a hill and had to downshift to keep it from bogging down, wouldn't you down shift? its the same thing. it does this to help with acceleration.

The trans has a kickdown cable that runs off of the throttle body to allow the trans to drop down a gear...totally normal. Otherwise the truck would bog down like crazy.

when i put it in overdrive and push the gas the transmission just revs up all the was and doesnt feel like its in gear.

sorry the engine just revs up and overdrive does not engage unless i let off the gas
