this was the 1st time changin the trans filter on my 94 2.3 2wd..i couldnt get the pan back on cuz of a small bump on the port of new filter(not the 2"ext. on the 4wd filter) all i could do was cut the hump out with tin snipsand install the filter and pan with previously stripped 4 or 5 pan bolts ..all seemed fine (small leak and no change in performance)started leakin good last week so i decided to tap the bad bolts and put in a good gasket.asked napa bout the filter and the problem i had ..he pulled up photo of original filter i pulled out and its only listed for an 86 2wd w/OD...put that filter in new gasket and bolts and it poured fluid bad..then i noticed it was comin outta the (i call em) servos on passenger side. i replaced them both now no leaks and shifts like a new truck... my question is what the hell is the difference between a 94 and an 86 a4ld that dictates a 1/4 inch bump in the 94 filter...leave it to ford to give u a headache over a 1/4 inch
