wow its that bad?

If you mean you mounted them closer to the cab then yea I'm pretty sure that's right. It's whats I've mostly seen done when people use a bed cage for shock mounting. If it rights good and doesn't bind then it should be ok.

Did you make the bed cage yourself? Could you post some more clearer pictures of it?

Looks good. The way you have them mounted is quite common, and there is nothing wrong with it.

With a rearward tilt it give the shocks more of a 1:1 ratio. 1" of spring compression = 1" of shock compression.

So you like the ride? Damn now I'm itching to get my setup done.

i am not willing to give up that much bed space.

probably stuck doing some sort of cantilever freak airspring thing if i want a bling rear setup.

i have a full size 75 for hauling .my recover box and jack strap down behind tire. and the only thing i haul in my ranger is my dog and his water..didnt look at it as bling looked at it as the best cheapest way for ME to get that Little more out of it .i built it all my self from the scrap yard if i have 1000 out of pocket in to the whole truck short of motor. i would be surprised.bling for me is paint that come from a sprayer not a bomb if you had some input on how i could have better aproched this mod or a way of inproveing it would be more helpful . i dont even know what cantilever means. thanx for the in put

did build it my self limited by tools skills and materials all bolt in and i have since tied the bottom of frame rails under cage together with a cross member. have a shitty cam and dark shop try to get better pics if this shit make you guys laugh wait till you see my cut and turned d 35 beams coming soon .

for the amount of travel you have, it just looks like eye candy to me.

dump the blocks...that gets you that much more travel to work with and allows even lower mounting right or left of the springs..

best, put the mounts as low as possible on the axle with the highest frame mount point possible. you could still fully use the same shocks you have without going in the bed. depending on wheel offset, ditching the block and mounting the shock center of the axle, but forward and raked forward of it between the drum and leaf perch with a mount outside of the frame that extended up into the wheel well would work great and not take any bed space. 3 3/4 backspace with 35 swamps still rubbed a bit though with an explorer axle which is alot wider then you have to work with.. if you run a cell or rear b2 tank then you really open up the options to maximize usable space.

i am not baggin on ya....your creation looks great and definatly seems to fill its goals out nicely...with c&t beams it sounds like you plan hi speed..so that clears up intent a lil.

i just dont like limiting my abilities with a truck...but if its a race car...thats a whole different deal

a point and go hill climber. i guess your right now it does look like eye candy but the ride and new stabilty is off the chart is a new ride all together. and will tie in with the rest as it come s to gether . i did a flip shackel and explor ranger combo on the spring pack and need the block for now till i can figer out better longer springs. thanks bunch for in put. some more options are alway wecome. i have been building street trucks all my life this is my first 4x4.

Sloue you have a bender Im guessing? What kind did you use for the bed cage? Also what size/kind tubing is that?

98% of the prerunner trucks have been built this way in the past, till the recent year or so.I dont see any problems with what your after with a slight lean forward.

the only downfall for what you are after I see, is you "may" get some extra wheel hop over the stock config. of the shocks,if your running stock springs.

Looks good, I didn't go for a cage set up like you've got, but rather just 2 hoops.

Mine are built into the box itself, which is a bit different but the box floor and fenders that they are welded and braced to are 3/16th plate.

I doubt very much there will be an issue. I had F150 leaves, no blocks and an extended shackle and I did have some wheel hop. Once I flipped the stock shackles and added a block to get some height back, and using 4 door explorer springs, I've got next to no wheel hop, and the front jacking has been reduced significantly. The shock config I was using was the same as it's been since i built the truck.

12.5 ton i marked the die every 1/4 inch and moved center 1/4 at time as not to fold tube.very time consuming. i used 1 1/4 and 1 inch i cut out of an old dirt modified car of mine. wheel hop has been eliminated though a flip shackle and combo of ranger and explore leaves
