Hey Y'all, I have been lurking for a while on this forum and on Dezert Rangers, and I figured this would be a good place to ask this question,

I Am A Noob When it Comes To Long Travel,

I mean I know the difference between different kits and all that but I don't know much.

Okay, What I want to do to my truck is to build a Mild "Prerunner" Style Ranger. I live in Alabama and surprising there are not a lot of shops or trails where I live at, however there are plenty of fun Dirt roads around here.

Anyhoo, Onto the questions.

I have been looking at the Camburg performance kit but It does not say the Avg. Amount of travel you gain from it,

1. What is the Amount of travel you can get from that kit?

I read up on the Chevy 64in leaf swap and flipping the shackles and I am going to do that on my truck, however, I don't want to cut into my bed or mount a bed-cage because this is my only truck and I need it to be a truck every now and then, But Since I have to use it to haul occasionally,

2.Can I put an OverLoad Leaf in the chevy 64inSpring Pack to allow it to still travel well and hold a load in the back?

3. Is there a good website where I can learn about shocks and all that?

4. Is there any basics or advice that anyone is willing to give me?

Thanks Y'all!

search a lot on dezertrangers. the info is there if you can weed through the bull shit.

1. i don't know about the beamed ranger 5.5 kit travel numbers, but i can tell you that it will be plenty for just looking like a pre runner. everyone will agree as well, it's not about how much travel you have, it's about how the shocks are tuned. you can have 10" of travel in the front tuned properly, and it will work better than 24" of travel with no tuning.

2. for the 64" springs, they're most likely going to be too stiff for a ranger since they were designed for a full size and it's towing requirements. even if you bastardize the pack and add different leafs from different spring packs, i doubt you'd be able to exceed the load requirement of the pack.

3. what type of knowledge are you looking for? as far as tuning shocks goes, many people keep their tips and tricks a secret. you can search and find some info (i've done that when i was ordering my rear shocks), and through that find some people who tune shocks professionally and send them a PM to ask some questions. there are threads on DR also comparing the brands, i remember one recently that had a bunch of people give their opinions on different shock manufactures. in all honesty tho, run what you can. someone like you or i won't be able to tell much of a difference between the makers.
