What's jic stand for?

Depends on who you ask. The Wikipedia article says 'Joint Industry Council'. I've heard/read 'Joint Industrial Council' and 'Joint Industry Conference' over the course of my hydraulics training. Regardless, if you walk into any hydraulic shop, they should know what a JIC fitting is if they know what their doing.

As a side note, hydraulic hose is compatible with gasoline.
