Just an fyi I'm starting to see a lot of ads from new members trying to sell stuff. Not sure if I'm only 1 seeing these or what.

I just reported 7 solicitors. What is happening???

Correction, 8 reported.

All we can do is report them to make it easier for the mods to be made aware to delete them.

I wonder, @Jim Oaks , if the forum management software allows setting a minimum of posts before new members can insert links?

Yeah... I just cleaned up 5 spammer posts. It does seem to be getting worse lately.

As far as I know... links can be posted in a new members first post.

I kinda wonder if the influx of spam has anything to do with advances in AI. Yall know they're gonna take over the world someday.

All/most of these morning (for me anyways) spam posts from New users are definitely bots/a.i.

Considering there's been so many every day this week so far, all trying to sell CBD or whatever it's been... theres probably a bot account written to more or less reproduce itself.

Fortunately... the forum software runs an algorithm on the new users IP address... email account... and user name. Lots of these accounts get flagged for approval prior to making them a member. It catches many of them... still other get through... and spam either in the open forum or in PM. I don't see this issue getting better with AI... probably much worse.

The Bronco Corral will sometimes have approval waiting fir 30 plus people a day. So it isn't a unique situation to TRS.

Things are definitely only going to get worse regarding AI for sure. Things are getting wild.

That technology is to the point where recently a group of folks were able to extract images from people's brains and recreate them on a monitor. I'll have to find the article..

Anyways.. i find it fascinating that "we" are able to do this.. and hold an appreciation for it.. but just like social media im definitely thinking that more bad than good is gonna come from it.

There's not a setting for that.

We have a new member putting a lot of ads on again!
