Got a problem and I know somebody on here can point me into the right direction. I got to tow a 6x8 utility trailer 35 miles yesterday to my house so we can put tables and chairs on it for a wedding. Anyways on the way to my house the roads I drive on are a little on the hilly side. When I go more than 1/4 throttle my truck starts to overheat. But, the only way for my 4 cylinder to get up hills is to go about 1/2 throttle on the upside of hills. I tried getting some speed on the downside of the hills but no luck with that one.

My question is, is there some way to control the heat? Or should I put more Horsepower on the truck to get it up the hills?

Manual or automatic? If it's manual then drop it into a lower gear when going up hills. If it's automatic then make sure the Overdrive is switched off when towing, also drop it into 2 when going up a hill if you need to.

thanx kelly, its a manuel but that was my first quess I tried it, still get the temp going up. It got to the point one time that I had to pull over to let it cool down.

Sound like the fan clutch is not working.
If you need it pulled back give me a shout,I'll do it for the gas $$.

bigger radiator, they liked putting in little thin radiators in these things, I have that problem too, but not bad enough to pull over...

I didn't even notice that you lived in perry. I got to the wedding and back to my house, I called my uncle to come pick it up thanx for the offer.
