a good header?

Go to http://www.schoenfeldheaders.com/fordpinto.htm and look at the under chassis header, fits fine on a ranger, all you have to do is add a o2 bung.you will lose a little bottom end,but more than make up for it on the top.$150.We use the thur the firewall one on our race truck and pickup 13 hp over the stock one.

Have you mounted one of the under the chassis headers on a ranger before? Obviously the flange at the head will work, but I'm curious if it will clear the trans and framerail alright?

I have the pacesetter header thats cracked in half now, but it fits perfectly between the transmission and frame rail on my 99 ranger.....the pacesetter comes down and the lower flange sits parralel with the frame, the schoenfeld looks like the flange is almost straight up and down, which would mean I'd have to make a new exhaust....but that may be worth it....?

There are 2 or 3 guys at the track that are running the under chassis header with no problems. We run the "thur the firewall"header that goes thur about where the heater box was, probably not the best idea for the street.

cool, well i just ordered one, hope it fits! thanks

Get A Doug Thorley Tri-Y, best headers ever, trust me, got one on my 2.3 had it for years, no leaks or anything, just remeber to check the bolts that attach it to the head periodically for the first few months to make sure they aren't backing off

The only thing I could find for a Ranger on Doug Thorley's website is a cat back exhaust system. If you have a part number for the header could you post it?

That would be nice....

I got my shoenfeld header on wednesday.....it looks MUCH nicer then the pacesetter I had(cracked in half).....AND CHEAPER!!!! The tubes are spread open a good 1/4"+ larger at the ports which is HUGE(and the gasket they give you matches the larger port size!!!), the overall package just looks much better designed, I can actually get the bolts in this one without tearing up my knuckles and throwing wrenches!!!

BTW, racerwalsh sells BOTH the pacesetter and shoenfeld headers, you just have to search a bit, cause they dont tell you the brand, but they have great service over there.
