A friends exploder need help

I have a friend with a 98 exploder but it was built in December so its actually built w/ 99 parts. So one day she goes out from work to go home and it wont start, think its fuel filter change that no diff, so than her dad, who ive met 2 year olds who were better mechanics convinces her its the ecu, they buy a new one against, my better judgment. Install the new ecu no diff, than have both ecu's tested both test good. I know wrong order to do things but i just cant get them to listen to me. So then her bf's uncle says oh its got to be the neutral safety switch, very probable, so they replaced and no diff. Now the symptom is it will barely turn over and just quit, this whole time ive been telling them its either the starter, or ig coil my bets are on the starter. I cant be sure about spark cuz id be stupid to let the guy who knows what he is doing look at it:icon_confused:. what would you say is the problem. also possible clogged injector, or maybe some dirty sensor I try not to deal with newer engines to much so i don't know what all to look at it has the 4.0 w auto trans.
 
Well, at first it MAY have been the coil or some other very simple non-starting issue, but now it sounds like they've managed to kill the starter. lol. Tell her dad and uncle to go to the local coffee shop with all the other retirees and gossip about retired stuff whilst the people who actually know what they're doing do the work.

EDIT: also make sure you check the battery if it's not cranking. lol What's the mileage on it?

I had the exploder jumped off my ranger with high quality jumpers, and a 800cca batt and that didn't make a diff, and the volt meter showed the batt as 80% charged so that's not it. I'm sure its a seized starter.

Try crankshaft pos. sen.

where is that they dont have a book and little money. and what would the test prcedures be if any

just trying to get all the ideas i can so when they have cash again i can help them figure it out.
