Lots of good info here :headbang:

Question though. What does FEAD mean, everyone mentions it but does spell it out?

Yes the intake did get cleaned up after this picture. I do plan on running those vavle covers but new ones are in the future too.

Okay while Im thinking about it ahead of time, what has everybody run when it came to running true dual exhausts on rangers? To be specific where where the inlet and outlet locations on what muffler you are running i.e. inlet is top and outlet is center, etc.... I plan on running mine out the passengerside before the tire or turned down before the axle, but plans on runnning out the rear in the future, just doing enough to get it driving and then go from there.

Also what muffler are you running too? I have heard some rangers with Dynomax and they sounded nice and some with magnaflow and they were good too. I just dont want anything thats annoying, but enough for suttlle sound but have that v8 sound to it. Als a size that would help keep the needed back pressure too.

I ran duals along the same route as the factory single, but added a home built 12" x 4" equalizer chamber ahead of the twin dynomax turbo mufflers, which were installed side by side, mounted 90* (upright) with the tailpipes run out the rear. This combo had a nice mellow tone.

I see dynomax mufflers as mellow mufflers but still lets people know what you have under the hood and thats what I'm after. I just don't want obnoxious noise that I see alot of people are running on their vehicles around my town.

Well guess its time to go do some more work to the engine and its attachments.

All theses questions aren't without pictures of course, most of them are in my build thread.

How do you measure ball and socket exhaust flange size?

Just wondering because I have the down pipe coming off my header for my driverside but not the one for my passenger side and just wondering how to measure for size. If anybody knows what the ball and socket fitting size is for the exploder headers are that would be great too.

Question about cooling setup.

I have the painless wiring 30101 kit link below to it for the directions and wiring diagram...

http://www.painlesswiring.com/Manuals/30101.pdf

Now I want to hook a coolant temp sensor in to it, if possible, instead of it being a manual switch turn on or igintion switch turn on and have it run at all times. As it says in the instructions in the link, the Gray wire is the switch on and off and I was wondering if a coolant temp sensor would do what i want. I have a 195 degree thermostat in the water neck and also wonder what coolant sensor I will need for the fan to be turned on.

Also where would the best place to put the coolant temp sensor for the fan, the water neck or the intake?

Thats exactly what I wanted to see. It's the same as mine only the black wire on my relay says to hook it dirrectly to the ground. That one shows the coolant temp sensor to be spliced into the ground wire. So thats all I need to find.

But I will need to find a ground electric relay and not a positive one, I think...

Anybody know where I can find one for a 195 t-stat?

Bump for anybody doing a 302 swap. My truck does drive now and still doing a few final things. Link is in my sig.

Another bump.

Truck drives great but hate the Holley on top of it. Hopefully get an Edelbrock sometime soon.
