I'm about to take my C3 tranny out and put a M50D in. I'm currently using a 21t speedo gear. Can I just buy a 21t for the M50D or will the tooth count need to be changed?

I think the existing gear will work correctly. Ford only had a handful of part numbers for the gears, and I have never been asked which trans I was working on when I looked one up.
It was one of the few things that they never over-complicated.

I think the Ford auto Speedo gears tend to have a more teeth than the manual Speedo. But don't hold me to that...
