Something that I only just thought of now. :icon_confused:

After seeing how the bed is re-enforced underneath in stock form, i'm worried about the load capacity of the bed. Sometimes I carry a load in the bed, max so far has been 600 pounds of junk. How much is safe after a body lift? I know about the towing limitation after a body lift (okay, lack of towing to be specific), and that's not a problem for me.

Also, if I can't carry as much of a load, would it be acceptable to use 3" tall aluminum channel tubing (square or rectangular) in place of the lift blocks? The idea would be to mimic the frame, but 3" taller. Acceptable? (I have a complete, new 3" PA body lift kit, no hockey pucks or anything like that here)

Please help. My entire project could change due to this one thing, which would kinda suck right now!!! :bawling:

PATIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made my own body lift, washers pressed over pipe for the cab, for the bed I welded rectangular tubing to the top rail of the frame.

I included blocks under the deck reinforcement box members.

Now the important part is - you did it this way because ..... ?

Come on now, if you did it because you were being cheap/frugal/practical then that's one thing. If you did it because you thought it was necessary then that's a whole different ball game! :)

Anyone else have anything to say? I wouldn't push the issue if it wasn't important to me. :dunno:

Where's all the body lift peeps at?!?!!?

My body lift method for the bed was because I felt it was necissary to support the deck crossmembers.

The primary motivation for the body lift itself was wrench clearance.

MY making my OWN body lift was because I didn't want to spend $150
on bushing hardware for stock height when I was replacing the bushings

My making it lifted at that time was because I wanted a bit of wrench clearance
and nobody makes a 1" body lift and I didn't want to go taller.
