So im planning on going to harrys you pull it Wednesday to get a rear axle with 4.10 gears. My original plan was to get an explorer axle and swap it in, but i just found out that i have to pay for every part separate (axle rotors calipers ebrake lines ect) so that is guna be 45 just for the axle. so i was thinking of just getting another ranger axle and strip everything off of it and just buying the axle and swapping all my rear brakes stuff onto it.

So my questions are

1. what year ranger axles will my brakes fit onto

2. what year rangers do the limited slips come in and what models other than the fx4 i dought i will find one of them but who knows.

Thanks guys

You should give it at least a day or so before getting impatient, many here make their rounds usually once a day (it's been barely over 1½ hours between your posts).

ANy Ranger rear axle will bolt into any Ranger, but for the best fit you'll want to stick with '93up axles (for 4.10 gears you may have to look at the '98 & later ones anyway, as I don't think those gears were available on Ranger 8.8s before then).

Why do you need an axle with 4.10 gears? Did you re-gear the front or break something in the rear? Whats wrong with what you have?

i have 3.27 gears and running 31s it sucks for towing and off roading. this is a cheap way to regear my truck

Okay but you'll still have to put 4.10's in the front too.

inless he just use it in mud bog 3.27 up front 4.10 in back nice boger lol

you're kidding right???? that'll break sh!t.

as for the OP, I'd say go find a junk yard that will charge you just for the axle... that place it trying to rip you off. There are yards all over that want your business... now anything not apart of the axle assy. will be charged, like leafs...

I paid 175 for my exploder 8.8" with 3.73s and an LSD. I got everything in it's entirety for 175.

And really, make sure you re-gear the front or you'll brake shit. I ran 3.73s in the rear and 4.10s up front up into the point of my SAS. I always kept it in 2wd unless I really needed it. I got lucky and didn't brake shit.

i had 4.10 in the rear a 7.5 up front i had 3.55 in eb dana44 and it wheel its ass off. i didn`T WHEEL ON HARD SHIT BUT MUD SAND DIRT IT WAS OK

i would never runn to different ratios and i ended up getting a explorer axle with 3.73 and limted slip and a front diff with 3.73s for $100.75

BULLSHIT. That DOES NOT WORK. I have seen first hand the failures that come from doing this thanks to an friend of mine.

I've got 4.56s in the rear and 4.10s up front, I've used 4wd around the property in the slick mud to pull around the parts rigs with no axles, haven't broke anything so far, feels kinda funny though :icon_twisted:
