A/C won't take charge

1989 4x4 xlt 2.9 A/C blows hot air but will not accept freon,the gauge shows full. And it's a cheap Walmart kit that I use to charge. Also the compressor does not click when I try to charge.Any help would be nice. Thanks

Has your truck been properly converted to use R-134a? Or are you using R-12?

Sounds like you probably should take it in somewhere for service, as there's a LOT more to charging an A/C system than just looking at a cheap gauge that says "full" on it (especially if it's hooked only to one port). You'll need to find out what the actual pressures are in the system and why the compressor isn't engaging.
