My a/c system in my 98 ford ranger with2.5 manual is leaking massively. Im leaking 20-30 psi a day and have put a recharge can with uv dye in it and inspected with a light and i have found no trace of dye. Are there any common areas i should replace that are known for this massive of leak?

With a leak that big, you could probably hear a hissing sound where the refrigerant is leaking. You could spray some water on all of the lines and hoses and look for bubbles. Look for any oily spots on the lines. If all else fails, change all the O-rings in the system. On a Ranger, they're all really easy to get to. If it still leaks after changing O-rings, the leak must be in a line, evaporator, condenser, the compressor shaft seal, or from a service port.

Well i heard a common leak from the high side schrader valve or service port could be the culprit. I took off the cap and put one finger of a rubber glove on it to see if it would fill and after 3 days i had a fully inflated thumb. Perhaps this could be the trouble spot? Although i feel with my massive of leak it should have been much quicker

It seem sto me that you are misunderstanding the physics at work here. A/c charge is not measured in pressure, because pressure can change drastically with ambient temperature. A/C charge is measured by the weight of the referegerant. A leak in a sealed system can let the pressure drop quickly as well. The fact that it takes 3 days to fill a rubber glove finger tells me that there is something leaking into the glove finger. Replace the valve and go from there.

Yea mine was leaking from the high side service port. Changed it then vacuumed recharged etc. all is well now
