I checked and my freon is full. My compressor will cycle on and off about every 10 seconds, but there isn’t any load on the engine. When the AC worked I could feel the load affect the engine and the truck would bogg down just a little. Does this mean I need a new compressor?

First, how do you know, for sure, that the refrigerant charge is correct? Don't tell me that you checked the pressures because that is the wrong answer. Only way to be sure is to evac and recharge the system.

If it infact is full I would put some gauges on it and see what they do. Odds are good that either the compressor is shot or something blew a hole in the orifice tube.
