Hi, I tried searching for this but couldn't find anything. I discovered a plug hanging behind the grill, just like the kind you would use in your house, 3 prong. It has a protective covering for it too. Does anybody know what this could possibly be for? Thanks

That would be a block heater.

You're obviously not from Canada...Lol....

That'd be either block heater, battery blanket or an oilpan warmer. Probably a block heater...

Interesting. Thanks for the replies... so what would I use this for? To heat my truck up faster in the winter time? :P

and you're right chris, I'm definitely not from Canada haha, but perhaps my ranger is...i don't think so....

It is used to keep the engine warm during very cold weather so the engine is not hard to start. You plug it in, and leave it until you get ready to use the truck.:)shady

It doesn't keep it at operating temps... Just warmer than arctic.
