You're right Wicked, Ford does not have a separate A/C off/on switch, just uses the selector switch. I forgot that I installed a separate A/C off/on switch on my truck because I got tired of running through the selector switch and having the compressor turn on and off for no reason. Now I can have the A/C always off if I want.

mine you had to push the fan button in to turn on the a/c and the sliders did the other things, but for some reason my compressor kicked on and off at idle w/ everything off, i just asked him if his did the same thing, im not trying to be an ass wicked i just wanted to see if somebody else experienced the same thing and why. im just going to rule my trk as being the retarded trk as it has been multiple times in the past and let it go. if somebody else tho has noticed that theres done what mine did id like to know about it and see if they have a reasonable explanation why it did what it did and/or how they cured the problem.

Chevy and Dodge work the same way. If its off its off. Ac works on defrost on most models. Some have to have the fan switch on to work. Unless the vehicle has a temperature control system, it has no sensors to detect air temperature. This is all done by the driver, and he controls temp by opening and closing the mix door. This adds more hot air or less depending on the setting. If you want the systems to cycle during the winter, you have to turn it on manually, or operate the defrost.shady
