Help is much needed.....
I am in the finishing stages of my 5.0 Conversion and have a problem. The truck started as a 98 3.0 Ranger w/ 5 Speed. I am putting in a 5.0 HO dumped the FI and going Carb'ed. When I removed the main Harness from the Power Distribution on the Fender to the Puter I marked all the wires I thought I would need. Oil press, Temp, Alt, A/C, Coil. ...... So we went to clean up the harness such as cutting out the Injector Plugs and CPS and such. My buddy helping me may have went a little to Cut Happy cause I have a mess of wires on the floor. Now the Key wont start the truck. I know that most likely the Clutch Switch was cut-away and I can get that figured out. But what I am wondering is how much stuff actually needs to run through the Puter to operate. I know basic wiring and am going to run a new relay for the Fuel Pump and try to run the key switch to the Clutch Switch to the Starter. Am I going to run into any other Puter Dependent item such as Speedo does it use the Puter?:icon_confused:

No, the computer only runs the engine.
If the speedometer connection was cut out, just make sure the two wires from the speed sensor on the trans get to the connections at the firewall.
VSS+ is pin7, Vss- is pin 13.

The clutch pedal switch is two wires for starting as well- pins 24 and 31.

Does the Back-Up Switch on the Tranny have anything to do with the Clutch Switch? cause that is all I can see that got Hacked away that maybe should not have.

No it does not. And the reverse lights can go either way.

I do have one of those Flat Plastic Keys just under my Steering Column. Would that have anything to do with it. Its called the PATS right. I know if the Key is removed it wont start but does it make it not turn over or just not start. And can it be wired around or jumpered past?
