a 3.0 can tow! (not for the weak stomached)

Who In there right mind would complain about a motor that is nearly bullet proof, gets good gas mileage, and from 4k to 6k sings like a racing engine?
Oh, I know! His name is completely clueless. (inside joke). He apparently is not in his right mind though.
I'm a fan of any motor that sings. 2.3, 3.0, and 351c are my favorites. 5.0s are ok. I play with them a little. I'm building a 5.0 right now.
The 3.0 is definatly my pick for a Ranger engine.

W00t, good to know. I knew wicked was one, but I didn't really know you were a huge fan. :icon_thumby:

mutant is probably higher on the list than i am. i mean i love the 3.0 and will defend it to the death...but i just dont have the expirience in modding that mutant has :3gears:

years ago i was going along a backroad that went through a wildlife area, there were about 20 canadian geese in the road. i figured they would move before i got there, i was doing about 70 in a astro van and hit the horn as i got near, they didnt decide to move until i was within 10 ft or so. mant went under, a few went over, 3 or 4 bounced off the windsheild and grille. didnt break anything but quite a few geese were killed and i had to go through a car wash and try and clean the undercarrage out. i still had goose smell on the exhaust system and feathers hanging out the spoked rims. glad the wildlife officer wasnt nearby. dont know if it would have been a crime, but wouldnt want to find out either. guess the geese are used to people stopping.

i had the same thing happen. all but 1 got out of the way in time. i was doing about 65 in a 1985 e-350 when he hit the front bumper with a "thud". i looked in the mirror to see feathers trailing from the truck and the goose flying off to follow his friends...tough birds!

ive also seen a flock of seagulls hanging out on a runway go up against a cessna 205 on takeoff. ive never seen so many chopped up, twitching, decapitated birds in one place before.

Oh, that reminds me of something that happened years ago.
One of my brothers bought a brand new chevy truck. He was driving down the road when a Rabbit ran across the road in front of him. He thought nothing of it being a 4x4 it sat high enough to easily clear. Well if you've ever seen a scared Rabbit, sometimes they just jump straight in the air when they get scared. The rabbit took out the grill, ac condenser, and the radiator. I cannot remember the exact amount but it was like $1500 worth of damage.
I've stopped for the Geese before that absolutly refused to get out of the road. If you try to nudge them, they attack the car!

My biggest regret is that we both like clevelands.....

I've been saying it for years now, there's nothing wrong with the 3.0L as long as you have good gearing for your tire size and a manual trans. I think the majority of the people that say 3.0Ls are dogs have been around one with a slushbox trans.

I love my 3.0L, it does a great job, I've put over 80k miles on it since it rolled off the dealer lot back in 2000, I've hauled and towed tons of stuff. If I could have afforded it when I was looking for my first vehicle, I would have got a diesel F-250. But since a lil Ranger was all I could afford, thats what I got. And I tend to use it more like a diesel F-250. Other than having to build custom leaf packs, it hasn't complained a bit about it either.

Yes, I am towing it, you can see a little of the blue towbar sticking out to the Jeep.

Yup, two motors (2.9L and 4.0L), A4LD, BW1354e, complete D-35, complete 7.5, spare axle shafts, two toolboxes (~100# total), Y-pipe, pushbar, radiator, misc small stuff, and an 80# bag of Portland Cement. I wonder what that all weighed out to....
