A 01 Ranger named sniper. [slooow build.]

Well, if you guys were wondering, i was working on sniper a little bit tonight.. just enough to make him driveable around the community [I live in butt no where, with 1 convience store... and a JY 5 mins up the road] I know he's not pretty.. but atleast he's somewhat driveable...

The Reason why i need a new cab...

If you look close, you can notice the front door is overlapping the back door.

I know this is redneck as hell.. but atleast it somewhat keeps the heat in.. and keeps the police off my case...

Theres a how to about installing a bodylift on the tech library.
it explains how to lift the cab from the frame.
its basically that + unhooking some electric connectors.

That should help.

The headlights are still perfect. one of the turn signals is cracked, But i defiantly will when i get around to doing the cab swap!

Well, we've decided Sniper is too far gone to save... the engine is buring oil like crazy, its pulling to the left, steering is loose.. rear end is wobbly... But tomoro I'm going to look at what appears to be a 94-95 Ranger... 4x4, ext cab... little bit of rust on it... Dont know much details since i've only seen it in the back of the guys yard with a forsale sign on the window.. I'll try to get pics tomoro..

Well, i was mistaken. its a 96. went to go look at it today. Looks like a half decent little truck. Auto, But who ever is selling it isnt making a good effort... I went and knocked on their door, and even seen them through their picture window... then i tryed calling the number on the sign.. no awnser.. Its hard to find good rangers in my area :C And my limit is $2500... and for $2500 here you get a rusted hunk of junk...

Well guys, I'm still on a hunt for a truck... I've found one that fits my budget but its not a ranger :C Its a 88 GMC... $600, needs a muffler and a shock bracket... oh and also the front rib on the bed fixed.. but i know where i can get a bed for like $50...

I'd love to find another ranger but sadly theres none around that are in good shape for sale...

Well... I did some messing around with sniper today.. and found out its not as bad as i think it is.. Turns out the rear rims were bent, causing the miss alignment. So thats fixed! I think i'll try to push that nasty dent out of the cab tomorrow... aswell as get 2 fenders, and 2 doors.

EDIT: By the way, not trying to be an ass, but I don't like your new truck, just because it's a Chevy, sorry. But you gotta do what you gotta do right? At least you got it for cheap, and its just temporary correct?

those older chevys are pretty tough. we use one at our cabin in colorado, and have used it for years to get up and around in the mountains, haul firewood, stuff like that.

Well, i didnt buy it. i still got sniper, and i went to a body shop, to set up a time to have that dent pulled out of the cab. then the rest i can do while i slowly collect parts

He's at the body shop now having all his battle wounds with old man winter patched up. which means, New cab,fenders,doors,bed,grille, tailgate, and front/rear windows. I'm undecided on color but i think im going to have him painted silver... or should i go with winter camo? ... The guy who owns the body shop is extremely good friends with my mother, and said he'll do the body work for the cost of the parts. and paint. Also, I've been messing around with a 3D game i play, and came up with a somewhat finished point i want to be with sniper one day... Model isnt the best, but it gets the general image done.

So sniper should be up and running again in a few weeks! I'll keep you's posted as time goes by the best i can.
