as title says. how will a 99 stepside short box fit onto the frame of a 1983?

was at a pick n pull yesterday and they have 2 boxes in excellent condition... my brain started thinking ... by measuring them they look about the same diamentions 74 inches long. anyone have any input on this setup? i did some scanning thru the forum, couldn't find the exact combinations... (i am sure it has been asked before)

thanks

I can't say how it would bolt up as all I used was the fiberglass skins. The shadow lines don't match up if you are concerned about that.

I don't know the exact year of the bedside.

I built the truck for grassroots short course off-road truck racing, unfortunately there is no longer a track to go race on right now. I'm trying to make it somewhat road legal so I can try rally racing. It needs to be "legal" for driving on public roads between stages.

It bolts on, the lines are in the same places but different.

It looks kinda odd IMO. :dntknw:

I kinda thought the box would bolt on.
It does look odd to me too, but I wanted fiberglass, it survives hits better and is easier to repair.
The lines are smaller and a couple inches higher than earlier. It's hard to see on the pic.....but now that I think about it, how do I know it's at the right height without the rest of the box bolted on? I don't, so will bow to 85_Ranger4x4s knowledge.
