I have a 99 Ford Ranger, xlt, 4x4 3.0 FFV. This evening, went to back into a parking spot, and boom had nothing, it wont go into reverse. The reverse lights come on, but its as if the truck is in Neutral. The truck drives forward, in D and 1,2 just fine as I can tell. i drove the truck home no problems, but i can't get it to go into Reverse.
One bud says it may be the linkage in the tranny, r the clutch or something in the tranny. Another says it may be the shifting fork mechanism or something, i dunoo!
Please Help!!

I had a new/rebuilt motor put in at 132K miles, i am currently at 165K, so i have about 35K on the new motor.
This is the first bit of trouble i've had with the tranny.
Please HELP ASAP.

put her in Neutral, and push, I call it Armstrong Reverse, never fails unless you do!
(sorry, had to be a smart ass, I have'nt all day =p).

might try a new tranny, thats a lot of miles.

mine pulled the same crap for awhile, it was delayed, i would have to rev it up a bit and it would go. doesnt do it after the rebuild though.
