99 ranger 2wd 5.0 swap

I have a 99 ranger 2wd 2.5, and a 99 explorer and with a 5.0 I want to swap the 5.0 into the ranger. I have questions about the drivetrain, since I won’t be using the transfer case, what about suspension mods ect anyone ever done this?

You need to convert the trans to a 2wd or get one thats 2wd i got one out of a v6 mustang. no suspension mods needed but you will need 4.0 motor mounts and adapter plates. did this swap over Christmas on my 99 rcsb with a 99 expo. hope that helps if you got more questions just ask

The explorer V8 would have a 4R70W 4WD transmission(assuming AWD or 4x4), there is no inexpensive way to change it to 2WD
Best to sell it and buy a 4R70W 2WD transmission from/for a 5.0l engine

Or you can go with a Manual trans from 1997-2003 F-150 2WD with 4.2l V6 engine, same bolt pattern as 5.0l
