i have a 1999 ford ranger with a 4.0 5sd manual. this truck has a three inch body lift and 4 inch suspension lift and a hurst shifter.

the problem i am having is the truck will not shift into gear and the clucth pedal is spungy. the truck will start and i can put it in gear when the truck is off and the truck will run with it in gear and the brake on but it will not shift.

the truck work fine one day and then the next it would not shift. i have check and replaced the trans fluid with atf and i toped of the hydraulic clucth.

i have know idea what is wrong with the trans i am going to check the linkage tonight when i get home. any help would be apricated. thanks :dunno:

search any clutch problems and it'll get you the same answer: slave cyl or master cyl everytime. More likely a slave as it's far more common to be the issue.

There's no linkage to work on...it's a top-loaded shifter.

i ment the clutch linkage. thanks for the help i will check that tonight.
