!54,000 miles on truck, ?? 90k miles on engine. RH valve cover leaks bad over the exhaust manifold, enough to smell it in the garage, and a bit concerned over fire hazard. Recently bought a set of cork gaskets and went to change the gasket. 2 hours later it's back together and still leaks>wtf? :annoyed:
I notice that under the valve cover the head and intake meet and are not level. No way that's going to seal that I can see? :icon_confused:
What's the deal?
And the other thing :icon_confused: the "gasket" I removed was an aluminum and o-ring type deal, that's not original is it??

Thank you.

In the manual it states to put rtv where the intake/head meet

I suppose, but I sure didn't expect a joint under a gasket like that and I sure dind't have any RTV on hand. I may have to try again some day.
