I’m getting a lot of leakage from this area and I’m fairly certain it’s due to the PCV valve being loose in the hole in the cover. Should the cover have threads? What does the valve thread on to? There was a crusty old grommet that broke apart when I examined the area but no auto parts store could locate a grommet for this area that actually ended up fitting in the hole.

Please help! Thanks!

Moving this to the 4.0 section…

That is a turn and lock mechanism. I think is about a quarter turn. The pins inside the hole tend to get broken off easily and then the PCV valve has nothing to lock onto. I had to replace the valve cover to fix the problem. I am very careful when replacing the PCV valve now.

I am sure there are other ways to fix it but I didn't want to mess with it. I did save the old valve cover as something to work with if I ever have another problem with the new valve cover.
