Neighbors has an 99 3.0 ranger it has the goofy little badge on the tailgate

looks like it is running agsf 12pp plugs....e85 stuff yes?

ran the codes Key on engine off, and we are getting P0306...misfire on #6 plug, but that isn't listed on the code list? all 8 checks came out OK

Is there any thing else that would throw this code or cause a intermittent misfire ??

thinking that he doesn't drive this much...bought it 4-5 yrs ago...with 99K....now just over 106k

I have the same engine, same year, and way back when, with less than 40k miles I got the misfire code for cyl #2... pulled the wire-boot to get to the plug... and most of the electrode came out with the boot; it had broken off way down and separated from the ceramic. No discernible reason why... aggressive factory install?

Pricey plugs, but sometimes you find 'em online under $4... and they do actually last 100k... sounds like your friend needs to replace them all since he's at 106k miles. RKIs say use THAT EXACT SAME PLUG, accept no subsitutes, accept no German or Jap "equivalents", no matter how "sexy", lol.

ALSO, should replace ALL the wires, at that age and mileage.
