99 3.0 ex man

ok guys....i heard a leak on my way home today.....i'm looking for a pic of the driver side ex man....should it have 3 bolts?....i only have 2...the pass side has 3 on the top side....the truck isnt short on power and runs great but i can hear a leak...

Yeah it should have 3 bolts, once the engine cools down put your finger around where the hole should be and you will either feel an empty bolt hole or a broken bolt. Same issue on my truck but the passenger side instead of driver. Hope this helps.

Oh also if you don't feel the bolt you are kind of lucky and will be able to just put a new one in, but if yours is like mine you will most likely have to pull the head and recover the broken bolt, which you will need a drill and drill bit a bolt extractor kit and also alot of wd40 depending on how rusty your other ex man bolts are.

it is boken but the other 2 are studs not bolts....let me ask ...how long have yours been broke?



the man isnt rusted to bad and the other 2 nuts are in good shape......

any clues as to why it boke? i'm going to check motor mounts now...

Honestly I don't know how long it's been broke, and your right they are studs. Usually it's just from heating up and cooling down over the years. Over years of that usually the metal just starts to weaken.

maybe a torch and a stud remover.....

but the manifold will have to be removed then and you will most likely have to do the same as i did in my 2005 sable ffv pushgrog thread
