Will the auto driveshaft be reusable with the M5OD? Length wise is my concern.

Also is it possible to run the auto ecu and harness and just loop the neutral safety?

Im not worried about reverse lights, I know I can figure that out. Im just worried about it idling weird or going into some sort of limp mode.

Also wondering if it is looped to think its on neutral, will my cruise still engage?

Oh, and are the auto flex plate bolts usable with a flywheel?

Well solved some problems before I had to worry about them.lol

Picked up all the hardware for the flywheel and clutch, so bolts are not an issue. I also got an ECU and trans harness for a 5 speed.

Still wondering about the drive shaft length though.

I must be in somewhat unchartered territory.lol

I have been doing a lot of research on this, and I have only come up with one good thread where someone actually completed the swap.

I talked to the stealership, 98+ Models must have the ECU/PCM matched to the vehicle if you swap to the manual ECU.

If you run the auto ECU, the OD light will flash and you must loop the wires to truck it into thinking it is neutral, but you will hit rev limit at 3K.

The auto trans harness can be reused since the colors for VSS and reverse are the same, but you must have pigtails from a manual trans to splice on.

The driveshaft for an auto is about 3 inches shorter than a manual so you need to have one for a manual.

Im still unsure about the clutch safety, but from what I can see the 98+ trucks do not have a plug with jumper that will simply plug into to the clutch safety. If you want to add the safety you have pull the wires and splice in the pigtail for the switch.

So as far as wiring goes if you swap in the manual ECU and trans harness, then have it programmed for your PATS (anti theft) it will start, run, your speedo will work, and your cruise will engage, but if you dont add a clutch safety the truck can start in gear and the cruise will rev up if you dont tap the brake/off button before shifting.

Im not worried about the clutch safety really. I never set my cruise in any gear but 5th, and I have owned nothing but 5 speeds other than this truck, so its habit to push clutch to start.

I can honestly say that this is the first time I have never had a single response to a question on TRS.lol If anything I have said is wrong, let me know I am hoping the swap will be somewhat seamless when the time comes.
