okay I have been researching this all day yesterday and this morning and cannot find the answers I need

Will a 99' 4.0L OHV bolt up to a MANUAL transmission in a 99' 2.5L ranger?

I have looked at the tech library and the tranmission model and code are the exact same. The only difference i can see is the gear ratio. Which isnt too important since i have big tires anyway and the lower gear would help.

I have looked at the tranmission I have on my 99' 2.5L, and it has extra bolt holes. Could this possibly bolt to the same year 4.0L?

and again this is a MANUAL so that should change the whole ballpark in what works. Help would be appreciated Thanks!

Its not gonna bolt up, unfortuneately.

The 2.5 uses the Pinto OHC RWD bolt pattern, same as the 1.3/1.6/1.8/2.0/2.3 engines.

I was in your same boat a month ago, and held my mazda m5od manual transmission against the 4.0 block and there is no way to make it work (just had to be TOTALLY sure, lol)

The 4.0's use the cologne V6 pattern, same as the 2.8/2.9/ engines, and the manuals use the same bellhousing pattern as the automatics.

If you have a 4.0 already, Best bet is to find a 2.9 liter donor vehicle with a bad motor.
