'98 transmission died, will trans fom '02 work

I have a 1998 Ranger with auto and 4.0. It wont do anything in forward or reverse. The shop tried a torque converter, but didnt fix it. I found same set up from a '02 Ranger edge and was wondering if it would work.

I also found a '97 with same setup. Not sure when Ford changed their drivetrain or electronics.

it should, they are both 4th gen rangers, i'm not sure what they changed during what years tho...

ok, thanks. I am going to get trans info the first of week and then get the others info and prob. call a salvage yard and see if they will work.
