So i have a 98 3.slow manual ranger that ive decided to motor swap. My options are a 4.0 auto 2wd swap, a 96-97 explorer 5.0 auto 2/4wd swap, or a 99 expedition 4.6 modular auto 2wd swap. My question is whats yall opinions on each, whats the easiest. I have the expedition lined up from a guy for 1000$ and i will be installing a 3" body lift to allow clearances.

I say go for the 4.0 or the 5.0. I would imagine that would be the easiest if you have all of the stuff from the Ranger/exploder that you need such as radiator/ computer/ harness/ transmission/ etc...

Just my thoughts... And I would say that the 5.0 wouldn't be all that much more difficult than the 4.0...

So no to the 4.6, ive been leaning to a 5.0 out of an explorer. After finding the expedition my mind overran my skills and i started to think it would be wicked easy.

I'd try the 4.6. If you already plan on a 3" body lift that helps a lot of the clearance issues there. The 4.6 is overall a better engine than the 5.0. More power, less weight, better MPG.

Ok, what year expedition f150 would you recommend I pull from? One that has No pats, and is easy to disable egr/air system if equipped

one more question, would a 5.0 have more hp/torque than a Banshee Supercharged 4.0?
