what the hell...
so i took off the cover for the pass side rear speaker, cut that connector thing and spliced the wires, twisted them with the speaker's wires, and all is good.

i open the driver side, and this time there isnt a wire that comes to an end with a connector. i see two wires that run laterally and seem to run into insulation which is between the 2 speakers. they both are connected to one beefy bundle of wires that run up the cab's corner. here's a pic maybe it helps. that big square at the top is the rear cab window, the two squares are the speaker openings, the spray stuff is the insulation.

anyways, i can't find what the hell to wire my speaker into... i ran my hand all through there and couldnt find anything. it's dark outside so maybe that makes a diff, but for the other side the wires were nicely taped to the cab!!

The driver side should be a taped-off connector, just the other side. You just need to keep looking. And, I think it's time to get a new camera. Good luck!

I just changed my rear speakers in my 98 ranger and didn't have any problem but they were the original speakers I replaced. I'm guessing your wires are there somewhere unless somebody ripped them out. If you call a local stereo shop they can give you the wire colors to look for in the harness. Remember to check your polarity on the wires when you hook them up to the speakers.

hmm the wire probably mustve fallen somewhere in there, i'll just look tomorrow in the daylight. The speaker boxes were empty but there should still be connectors for both sides right?

i found it. it was taped way behind in the insulation... weird. they mustve cut too much wire @ the factory or something
