i think you can change the tail housing to make the 2wd fit, but no you can't just bolt a tc up to the back of a 2wd trans... it would probably be easier to just get a matched trans/tc and put them in together...

yea i thought ide have to do that, now does anyone know where i could find a front axle? and whitch one would be a good one to put on i dont want coils i want leafs on it

Don't wast your time. Every offroad mag and every offroad show says unless you are stupidly rich it is a wast of money and time.....just buy a real 4wd.

theres my real 4wd..... hit a tree at 55, its a 99 with superlift... luckly i didnt have my good tires on it cuz i demolished one of the rims, but the tranny and transfercase are good so i guess it might not be a waste of money after all...... :icon_surprised:

This is true to an extent, but Ford never built a Ranger that was a real 4wd. A solid front axle and decent suspension would have to be swapped in regardless of if he started with a 4x4 or 2wd, so if he can't sell his truck and buy something equally as nice for less than about $500 difference, he's better off keeping what he has.

And he can build it way cheaper than an off road mag or show because he doesn't have to use all the sponsor's overpriced crap lol.

I did my complete 302 swap for under $1500... the show or mag would have that much just in a set of heads.

I'll agree though that swapping to a stock 4x4 set up is a waste of time and money, but dealing with a sas is completely different.

I don't know about yours specifically, but typically you need to change the output shaft of the transmission to bolt a t-case to it. The output shaft is like the last thing to come out of the transmission.
