When the truck is off and the key is out of the ignition, do the windows work? I just installed a remote starter and at the same time (it could be coincidence) I find that I can operate the windows with the key out. Opening and closing the doors doesn't make a difference. If I come back to it after some time (about an hour) they windows no longer work with the key out.

I thought this window feature was on new cars and if you opened the door it would kill this feature.

Can anyone help?

Some remote starters have this functionned hardwired into them, allowing you to roll up your windows if youve forgotten em before removing the key. Albeit, other electric functions should also work IE the radio...

Just the windows work.

Radio and HVAC do nothing with the key out.

Was this a factory feature or is the truck too old for it?

My 98 let the windows work too. No remote start installed in it.

I sold that truck some time ago but I believe it worked up until you opened the doors but I'm not sure anymore.
