I have a 1998 Ranger Supercab 4.0 4x4 with 240k miles, just bought it recently for $750 with a blown head gasket but otherwise clean body and suspension and everything works on it.

The first few days it would fire up instantly, then after that, it just started cranking over and over and would not start. I thought it was alarm related as the first few days it would go off anytime I opened the door (dont have any remotes for it), then when it quit running, so did the alarm, weird. The RAP module has been disconnected and the starter works fine.

I've poked around and it has everything it needs to run (maybe some weak compression but should still run) but I'm not getting any injector pulses! They do have 12v going to them, but multimeter and stethoscope tests come up dead. If I manually ground the injectors they do work! I am getting power to the PCM.

Anybody know what else could cause it to crank but not fire the injectors? I read somethng about the DPFE sensor and going to test it today. Also tried disconnecting the TPS, MAF and IAC sensors, no change.

Thanks in advance!
