98 Ranger 3.0L Loss of Throttle Issue

So with the throttle and cruise disconnected idle only drops to 835 - 850. I adjusted the screw as high as it would go and that's the lowest I could get it. If I manually throttle it is noticed that that it likes to stick a little and I have to manually force it back down to the 850 or so idle. That's with the IAC disconnected.

And the MAF. Is reading 5.35 and now the idle sits around 900 after it settles down. W/of iac.

Well I took the right out for a long drive. After 50 miles of hills, curves, and bumps, the right ran great. No stalling, shutting down or anything (except for the higher idle). Looks like MAF was the issue.

Odd symptoms for MAF issue.

With engine off.
Remove throttle and cruise cables again
Then loosen TPS, bolt holes should be slotted, it is attached to the other end of the throttle plate shaft
see if throttle closes more

Just checking on your year 3.0l with automatic trans and 850-900rpm range seems to be normal warmed up.

But it should still drop down more with IAC unplugged or IAC would have no control for idle under 900

Will do that tomorrow. I have a new TPS so if I can get it off I will replace it.

I know this thread is super old but I had the exact problem happen to me and it's 100% your MAF.
