A neighbor of mine has a 98 explorer with the 4.0l and he started it this morning and it sounds like it is only running on 4 cylinders. If you take the oil cap off you can hear a lot of ticking. Is there any problems known to be the problem??. The motor is a SOHC. He said it ran fine last night. Thanks Guys.

Common ohc guys, help this man out. Ive only seen ohc on paper. OHV ALL THE WAY!!!
All i know is that all the moving parts of the valve train are in the cylinder head. If it were me, id Open the valve cover and start to learn. goodtimes!!!!!

I told him to remove the valve covers, but he did not sound to enthused to do so. I would help him but my garage is full at the moment with other peoples cars. It sounds to me like it has jumped time.

i wanted to say that cause there is 3 chains, i think........never touched one though

I can not believe a site about RBV's and no one but one person knows anything about them. I know I don't know exactly how to ask the question without you guys hearing it, but atleast throw me some ideas like the other guy did. Thanks..
