hey guys new here. just bought a 1998 ranger 2wd, 5 speed, with (i think) a 2.5L 4 cylinder in it. it has 2 spark plugs per cylinder. just curious if there are any motor problems i need to be looking for. the previous owner has already put a new motor and new head in it. i got a few other questions about this truck. what kind of mileage should i expect from this truck???
1. it leans to the drivers side. from what i have been reading, is this seems to be a common problem in the rangers. any solutions??? shocks??? springs???
2. the driver side door has a bad clunking coming from the handle. door is latched tight, but if i pull in on the door it goes away. is there any adjustment in the door latch???
any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
thanks scott butt

i have a 2000 with the lima2.5 in it my truck does not lean. but i have a friend with a 98 stepside that does. my passenger door does that clunking sound and there are fixes on the internet to fix that, just look round, i have not gotten the time to fix my pass. door though. i get 22mpg doing 55 on the highway, and whatever i want in town, i push it sometomes. if i baby it all around i can get 26-27 mpg, but thats babying the living s*** outta it. things ive had to replace are the iac, fuel pump, and tps, along with all of the filters. i love this truck as it is my first car, granted its not going to win any races, but it will haul, tow and get you where u need to go no problem. i have towed a friends lifted 95 chevy 3500 up a hill and a mile to a gas station, did that no trouble, i have put 2500 pounds of rock in my bed and went about 20 miles, only scary thing was getting used to the braking :p. and it has never failed me on the road.
