97 xlt hub parts

hey so i finally found what is wrong with my 4wd, and we discovered some bits of metal in the hub, only to find that the 3 little "tabs" were kind of sheared off of the part that engages the hub. The part is on the axle/rotor assembly, but i do not know what it is called and the people at the parts shop thought i was an idiot. does anyone have a picture, part number, or name of this part so i could get it ordered? I'ts for a 1997 ranger 4.0 V6 xlt. Thanks i appreciate it!

Your best bet is to go to the local junkyard and pull a set. You would only be able to get replacement parts through Ford, and they would make you buy the whole hub assy.

The auto part stores would be clueless on what your talking about. It would not be in their system.

Yeah, a junk yard is your best and by FAR cheapest option. If you have auto hubs, they are everywhere! If you have manual hubs finding one/ a pair will be more difficult. If you have auto hubs, I would suggest find manual ones anyway. Yes, you will have to get out of the truck to lock them, but they are ALOT more reliable.

I have no clue what it would be called. Are you talking about the piece that has three little triangular tabs on it?

yeah, its the last piece i believe on the axle/rotor assembly, and it's a little plate of sorts with the three little tabs that engage the hub. We found those three tabs sheared of inside the hub floating around.
