My ranger, 2 wheel drive, auto, (M5OD-R1) sometimes has a problem getting into 1st gear. I took it to a tranny shop, they replaced the fluid/filter and said it was two servos that are likely going out. They will replace the servos for $395.00 but do not guarantee the problem will be solved. They also test drove it and said the OD was locking. Does this sound like a servo problem?
while researching the web, I found topics concerning two servos, an intermediate and overdrive.
I am thinking of replacing the outside servo, as it is easiest. Do you think this is sensible?

Where can I find the replacement steps for both servos? Is the exaust pipe diffucult to remove? Seems like loosening it will be diffucult. Any tips?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
