Hello I am a proud owner of Randy the Ranger lol. She has just over 104k runs drives strong. I was having lean issues, bucking, stalling, poopy mpg(260 to a tank).
After much searching on Trs and much trial and error I think I got it straight.
Fuel pressure was low like 18psi. The cat was clogged, so was the muffler. Hollowed out cat and threw a thrush muffler 2"in 2" out with a 2 1/8 downpipe. Replaced o2 sensors,Replaced fuel pump, fpr, fuel filter and ran seafoam. She ran better but not at all like she should. (At this time p0141 popped up after 10 minutes of driving or 30 minutes idling ) Replaced ALL vacuum lines. (Hissing coming from between valve cover and coil packs) Running a lil better but it still bucked on take off and would not over heat but run just a lil over half way on temp gauge. Checked egr valve....working like it should.
I then replaced the Tps sensor. The idle jumped between 500-1200 randomly.
Had the coil packs tested exhaust side was weak. Replaced the CP with wires and plugs. No change on how she ran!
Frustrated at this point I bought a 12 pack.
I proceeded to take apart the whole intake. Front bolts were all tight, back ones were snug. Checked timing.
Cam was off two teeth to bottom end and oil pump was off 180. Put here all back together with all new gaskets, belts, and pullies.
She runs amazing but she still was throwing a lean code.
I then put a header on,open air intake,brand new pcv,hose,and pcv grommet .
Still a lean code. Maf was checked and cleaned. No fault there.
Wtf?
Iac is brand new (1 month old)
Bought another one.....but no change.
So I returned it.
Thinking and thinking .....research and more research....
Viola....looking at the empty beer can I proceed to cut a rectangle out of it. I trim it and put two holes for the bolts to go through. I used the new and old iac gaskets with ultra black rtv on both sides . I then sandwich the piece of aluminum between gaskets and bolt it up. I was going to do this to the egr but it seemed like a 50/50 shot....
So either way my truck runs amazing, I'm so excited she got fixed. I have put two tanks through her and I'm seeing 380 out of 1st one. 410 out of second.
I just want to thank every body here for all your post and experience.
And oh everytime I did a oil change it would smoke for 3 seconds and stop, as well as black particles.
After retiming it this all went away!
Thanks you guys again!
