I have read some of the forums about bypassing the valve for the rear abs. I also understand that if I unhook the sensor the abs light will come on. Do the rear brakes work at all when the sensor is the only thing unhooked? On my ranger the abs does not apply enough brake at all.
Thanks.

I guess I will answer my own question. I went out today and unhooked the sensor, took the ranger for a drive on the snow packed streets and nailed the brakes. All 4 wheels slid. I now can stop way quicker than when I had the ABS, hooked up and working half way at best. I was figuring that is the way it should work, so they fail to have brakes rather than no rear brakes. So yea now I have a ABS indicator light on. I can deal with that until I get time to remove the bulb.

When you say that you unhooked the sensor do you mean at the axle or somewhere else? What else had to be done to bypass the RABS?
Thanks

The problem is that the RABS valve gets gummed up and stops the flow of fluid to the rear rear brakes...simply unplugging the electrical connector should make no difference whatsoever, other than turning on the ABS light.

You have to physically bypass the valve itself with a piece of brake hard line so the fluid no longer goes into the valve.
